MARINA FLYER RELEASES GPS FERRY TRACKING TO PUBLIC VIEW
CATALINA-MARINA DEL REY FLYER, operating high-speed passenger ferry service from Fisherman’s Village in Marina Del Rey (near LAX) to Catalina Island, has installed automatic GPS tracking of all passenger ferries leaving Marina Del Rey. Now, after testing the system, the company has established a public link for viewing the locations, speed and track of its ferryboats on any computer, anywhere.
Wondering what time your child on a camp trip to Catalina Island will arrive home at the dock in Marina Del Rey? Want to confirm that the boat arrived safely at Avalon, White’s Landing, Two Harbor’s or Emerald Bay? Waiting for a ferry passenger to arrive while moored in Avalon Bay or Two Harbors and want to know when the ferry will arrive? Now you can know for sure, just click on your computer or brower-equiped cellphone (such as iPhone).
In addition, with the implementation of this new technology our office staff can instantly give passengers an answer to questions about arrival times or delays. It also provides an extra measure of safety for our passengers in that we can monitor the location of the ferries at all times and detect any unusual circumstances.
This new technology will help us accomplish our goal of making our every trip to Catalina a safe and predictable journey.
